Do you suffer from the dread clutterbug? Do you start off meaning well and being super organised but before you know your inner clutterbug has taken over?
Don’t stress the clutter bug can be beaten here’s how…
Here are our top tips to declutter home or living space
Take everything out- If you are amid a clutterbug outbreak you probably don’t even remember what your room looks like. Clearing it completely is the only way to properly assess what you have to work with and see the full potential of the space.
Purge – ensure you aren’t drowning in things you really don’t need. Anything broken that can’t be fixed must be thrown out immediately. Be ruthless and honest with yourself about the things you really don’t need, including items of furniture. Any bits like remote controls, chargers, laptops etc should have a dedicated “home” so that its easy to find them and clear up.
Put just your sofa or bed back- it might seem extreme, but we recommend putting other items like coffee tables, bookcases, armchairs, bedside tables etc in storage if you can. This allows you to move things around again if you need and work out where is best to place your essentials
Take time to appreciate the newfound space– by now you will be appreciating how much light is the room and wondering why you let the clutterbug take control.
Slowly re introduce the rest of your furniture – adding items like vases, flowers and lamps to add texture. This will add dimension to a room. It appeals to your senses — both visual and tactile -and makes koijkmthe room interesting.
Do not let the clutterbug strike again. When thinking of making a purchase for your home use the 72 hour rule – Consider whether or not you actually need the item, calculate what else you could do with that money or space and also explore if you already own something that could suffice.
If you just have lots of stuff and limited space then you may also want to think about investing in some stylish storage items like secret storage ottomans, storage trunks or cute baskets.
